GeneralWhat's this Cpanel you mention? Cpanel is a way to manage your site on-line. It provides access to many of the features of our hosting in a simple to use interface. It lets you configure everything from email accounts to databases. Cpanel is one of the sections we have the most good comments about because it lets you do so much and is so easy to use. We say 1-2 days but its often within about 12 hours of sign-up. It depends on how busy we are at the time. Why do I have to purchase accounts for 2 years? This is because domain names have to be purchased for 2 years so it makes it cheaper for you and makes sense to buy hosting for 2 years. What happens to my account after 2 years? You will be contacted asking if you want to renew your hosting. If you don't that's fine otherwise we will look forward to hosting you for another 2 years! Can I host a business with Switchweb? Yes by all means please do. We host a wide range of sites from personal pages to graphic design portfolios. You are more that welcome to host whatever you wish as long as it complies with our terms of service. You can contact us from the contact page. We will try to get back to you within 24 hours. We have powerful RedHat Linux servers running Apache. HostingDo your packages come with domain names? Yes, all packages come with a free UK (.co.uk .me.uk .plc.uk .ltd.uk) domain name. Global domain names (.com .net .org .name .biz .info) cost an extra £10 per year. .TV domain names are an extra £33 per year. Domains are registered in your name or your business's name. Can I transfer my hosting to you? Yes this can be done through the transfer page. Will my website have banners on? No our hosting is 100% advert free. That's unless you decide to put your own adverts on to make money for yourself! Are there any scripting restrictions on your hosting? No but if we find a script affecting the server in an adverse way we will ask you to remove it. This is extremely rare and is normally accidentally caused by a scripting error. Are there any files types I am not allowed to host? Nope, you can host what you like as long as its not illegal or does not break our terms of service. Do you use ImageMagick, Zend, Ioncube etc? ImageMagick, MMCache, Ioncube & GD are installed by default on all of our packages and servers. PaymentsPlease visit our payments page. None at all! The prices you see on the packages page are what you will pay. I want to upgrade my hosting to the next package – is this possible? Your more than welcome to upgrade your hosting at any time. In fact its often better to go for one of the lower end packages then just upgrade when you need to. I have run out of bandwidth can I buy more? Yes bandwidth is charged at very competitive prices. SupportCpanel can be accessed through any browser at "www.yourdomain.co.uk/cpanel". You can access FTP through either Cpanel or any FTP client using ftp.yourdomain.co.uk. We recommend using Smart FTP for an FTP client - www.smartftp.com I just logged onto FTP – where do I upload files so that they can be seen from the web? You need to upload any files to the public_html folder for them to be seen from the web. To access your mail through a client such as Outlook or Mozilla use mail.yourdomain.com to send a receive mail. Please note that your username is yourname@yourdomain.co.uk and not just yourname!
